Cloud 9 Festival has a fantastic lineup this year, including The Futureheads, The Sunshine Underground and the recently announced Scratch Perverts. Held on Saturday 6 August on Love Lane Farm, Congelton, the festival is within throwing distance of Liverpool, Manchester and Stoke-On-Trent, and for £27.50 a head (with kids going free), it looks great!
Other artists on the bill include The Answering Machine, Too Young To Love, Clint Boon, Rotating Leslie, Cassette Jam and of course Bez! The festival is now in it’s third year and boasts an increased capicity of 5,000 to enjoy the additional stages they’ve added this year.
A community spirited festival set up by local resident Martin Wheelton two years ago, it’s a small festival designed to accomodate the best of rock and dance music. Sunderland’s finest The Futureheads headline this year, after releasing the bands fourth album The Chaos last year. Keeping the northern-based theme are Leeds-based The Sunshine Underground who have a third album in the works for this year, and Manchester’s indie-popsters The Answering Machine, who released their second album Lifeline in February (players of Fifa 10 will know The Answering Machine from the amazing ‘It’s Over! It’s Over! It’s Over!’ that featured on the soundtrack).
This year”™s festival is supporting the important chartiy C.A.L.M (Campaign Against Living Miserably). An award winning charity with many high-profile supporters, it was founded in response to the high suicide rate among young men, currently the biggest killer of men under the age of 35, and with 3 in every 4 suicides male, C.A.L.M is “a place for young men to turn to for help and comfort during bleak times of their lives and aims to support them, save lives and help make male suicide less of a huge killer in Britain”. C.A.L.M will be hosting the second live music stage where the acts such as Bez and Funkademia will be bringing merry times to Love Lane Farm.
